Dennis Madden is a lifelong fixer, thinker, and storyteller. Raised in San Jose, California, he built a career in the automotive industry—specializing in automatic transmissions—before serving 21 years as CEO of the Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association.

His passion for making the complex understandable led him to roles as a transmission rebuilder, technical trainer, and business consultant.

Dennis’s writing journey began with Follow the Loser: How Abject Failures Can Lead a Revolution, a seven-year exposé revealing how personal failures—dictators, authoritarians, and cult leaders—have manipulated the masses into following them. The book offers readers practical insight into spotting charlatans and resisting their influence. He later co-authored Hi-Rev for Small Business with renowned business coach Jim Cathcart, offering practical strategies for entrepreneurs. His third book, Clear Water: A Pool Owner’s Guide to Trouble-Free Care, reflects his hands-on approach to problem-solving and his newfound love of pool care after relocating to Henderson, Nevada.

Now venturing into fiction, Dennis brings his analytical mind and historical curiosity to Garrett: A Family Saga of Murder and Intrigue, his debut crime thriller. Whether writing about business, backyard chemistry, or buried secrets, Dennis is driven by a single goal: to help readers see the world more clearly—one story at a time.

Garrett: A Family Saga of Murder and Intrigue

Fiction Novel

Prosecutor Vance Garrett thought convicting cartel boss Jose Santiago would end the bloodshed. Instead, it ignited a vendetta that would dismantle his family from the inside out. When his son vanishes and Vance is murdered, the Garretts become targets of a chilling revenge plot orchestrated by Consuela, a master manipulator whose reach spans decades and identities.

As bodies pile up and secrets unravel, a hidden twin is groomed to impersonate his brother and steal the Garrett estate. Murders of key family members clear the path for a final inheritance grab, while Consuela eliminates every loose end with surgical precision.

Twisted identities, calculated assassinations, and a legacy soaked in blood-Garrett is a relentless crime thriller where justice is weaponized, and survival means outwitting a ghost from the past.

Follow the Loser: How Abject Failures Can Lead a Revolution

History & Social Science

History is littered with charlatans and soothsayers claiming to know a path to the Promised Land. They live off the goodwill of their followers while leading them to disaster. Some amass fortunes through their deceit. Others have a legitimate grievance but soon learn that there’s a profit in being the answer to so many. They are charismatic, cunning, and self-serving. Many of the “good-willed” don’t care about the cause or the people they claim to serve. The suffering only serves to stoke the flames of their personal failures and the entities (people, corporations, races, aliens, the list goes on) that are responsible for their suffering. Follow the Loser takes a look into the dark shadows and deep secrets of some of the most prominent leaders of the past two centuries.

The Association Field Guide: Five Pillars of Association Performance

Informational Guide Book

This Association Field Guide delivers a clear, practical blueprint for building a high‑performing trade association. Drawing on decades of real‑world leadership across 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6) organizations, it cuts through bureaucracy and theory to show executives and board members exactly how to create relevance, stability, and forward momentum.

Most associations don’t fail because of bad intentions—they fail because human factors dominate, governance structures weaken, and leaders lose sight of why the organization exists. This field guide solves that problem by organizing everything around five essential pillars: Purpose, By‑laws, Finance, Staff Training, and Industry Direction. Each pillar builds on the one before it, giving leaders a sequential, actionable framework that prevents drift, eliminates stagnation, and restores clarity.

You’ll learn how to define a purpose that actually guides decisions, design by‑laws that prevent entrenched leadership, streamline accounting for throughput and transparency, support staff with the tools they need, and align the association with the real needs of its industry.

Concise, direct, and grounded in lived experience, The Association Field Guide is a reference every board member and executive can use immediately. It replaces confusion with clarity, politics with structure, and drift with direction—so associations can finally do what they were created to do: serve their members with purpose and impact.
